This week's top 10 MLB takeaways

10) The only thing that can seem to stop Stephen Strasburg is bad footing

9) If you owned Carlos Pena in a weekly league and had him on the bench this week, you can be as bitter as me

8) At this point in his career, Jamie Moyer might not have the stuff for Fenway

7) Cleveland's Tony Sipp used to be having a good year

6) With each succeeding year, the magic of interleague play just grows and grows

5) When Americans start honestly caring about the World Cup, it doesn't speak highly of the level of devotion accorded to the national pastime

4) I hope you are sitting down for this one, but Rich Harden was put on the disabled list

3) The Flyers' deep playoff run and Eagle off-season moves has provided cover for the Phillies' offensive struggles that's going to go away right about... now

2) No one wants to admit that if the Nationals had simply used Strasburg all year, they'd probably be leading the NL East

1) Eri Yoshida, a 5-foot-tall female Japanese teenager who throws a knuckleball, got her first strikeout in the minors, and should be pitching for Baltimore or Pittsburgh by the end of the month

#2 - Time to eat some words. There is a good reason for not rushing him in -as the Nats are finding out right about now....

So he gets to be the next Joba Chamberlain. I hold to the truth that while the world was wrong to let Dusty Baker go on a killing spree, they are also wrong to treat these guys as if throwing a ball is an act of suicide.

And really... what good is he to the Nats if they aren't going to use him while he's actually under contract? It's not like he's going to stay with him if he's any good.
