Top 10 reasons why Arizona traded for Dontrelle Willis

Despite making $12 million with a record of 1-2 and a 4.98 ERA, the Detroit Tigers were able to find a suitor for the one-time NL Rookie of the Year and 22-game winner. Why?

10) DBacks figure that if the Giants can get something out of Barry Zito, they needed a napalm lefty of their own

9) Will distract their fans from the Continuing Saga that is Brandon Webb and Dan Haren

8) It's the biggest test yet to see if every pitcher in the American League looks good if he comes to AAAA

7) There's no anxiety to trigger a disorder in Arizona, and if Willis has a recurrence, plenty of old people to mooch drugs from

6) Arizona, believe it or not, did not have a left-handed pitcher before trading for Willis (although it could be argued that they still don't)

5) The DBack bullpen has a 7.70 ERA, which is to say, the DBack bullpen are getting less outs than beer league softball pitchers

4) It's not like they got anything for him (Billy Buckner, 0-3 with an 11.08 ERA, AKA Our Problem For Yours)

3) They made the move for Willis' bat (he's a career .232 hitter with 8 HRs in 354 ABs)

2) Trading for him gets a lot easier when his old team pays his salary

1) Your average DBack fan will think the team traded for Satchel Paige

And a bonus... Willis is dark-skinned enough so that he can be traded to the DBacks without fear of law enforcement...
