Top 10 Stephen Strasburg First Start Takeaways

10) Yankee Fan is already starting the clock for his free agency eligibility

9) Natty Fan threw back Delwyn Young's home run ball out of disgust, and because people in Washington have too much money

8) Bob Costas wants you all to know that the broadcast booth in Natty Park is too high up, and in other news, he is still an unconscionable douchebag

7) You have to be impressed about how the Nats are doing everything they can to keep Strasburg out of the stress of a pennant race

6) As good as he was, Adam Dunn's two-run HR was the only thing keeping him from taking a loss

5) If the hyperbole is to be believed, Jeff Karstens and Tyler Clippard will be the answers to some trivia questions

4) It says everything you need to know about this age of baseball that Natty manager Jim Riggelman was seen as courageous to let him work into the seventh inning, with him throwing only 98 mph

3) Fourteen strikeouts with no walks, including 7 in a row and 8 of his last 9 is, um, kinda impressive

2) There's a very real chance that he faced tougher competition than the Pirates in the minors

1) There is an even bigger chance that he's underpaid

Kinda? Nice understatement. Has there been another debut outing, ever, like this? And yeah, it's the Pirates, but still.

On number 4 - don't forget Rigs was the guy who helped destroy Kerry Wood's arm. So I think it's less about today's game and more about a certain manager's past history.

True, but we both know what really destroyed Kerry Wood: being a long-term Cub.

CMJ Dad, pitching wise, I don't think so. Unless you are counting Tatum O'Neal in the Bad News Bears.
