NFL Week One: Top 10 Takeaways

10) The league-wide slow start for the offenses shows just how much the defenses were being crippled by the pre-snap position of the umpire

9) If you had "Ten Minutes" in the First Jay Cutler Interception Pool, you won big, and probably had one of the later picks

8) Bengal Fan can content themselves during ugly losses by counting how many throws went to Chad Ochocinco, and how many went to Terrell Owens

7) When the Colts lose, CBS and Fox will still give you Peyton Manning's stats first, because that's what really matters

6) Arian Foster might have actually earned enough leash to stay on the field after a fumble

5) Those Kevin Kolb jerseys might be going on clearance by Tuesday

4) Shockingly, a Bengals team that's built around Ced Benson, Terrell Owens and Pac-Man Jones showed poor preparation and character

3) Wes Welker is back, and has spent some of his rehab time at shops at Tony Romo's Femmy Hat Shop

2) The Cowboys' Keith Brooking must be a good player, since he can do the whole Tent Preacher / Weak Wrestler thing on camera

1) Lions Fan got screwed even more than usual

The worst part about the Lions getting screwed, is that wasn't a blown call, but the "correct" call. What a bunch of BS. I don't get that rule at all.

Here's the way to look at the Lions call: if the same thing had happened in the middle of the field, would it have been called an incompletion or a reception and a fumble?

I say it would almost certainly have been called an incompletion, and that would have been the right call. Just because it was in the end zone doesn't mean the standards for a completion are different.
