Top 10 MLB All-Star Break Takeaways

10) All of the teams that wait to bring up their hot rookie prospects (Nationals and Giants 2010, Orioles and Rays 2009) do so much better than those that, well, just play the best guys and try to win games (Braves and Rangers 2010)

9) A solid choice for the National League first half MVP (Joey Votto) only made the All-Star team via Internet vote, and a solid choice for NL first half Cy Young (Mat Latos) didn't even make the team

8) So long as Bruce Chen is flirting with a perfect game, we can all agree that everyone needs to go back on steroids

7) The Angels kind of regret letting Vlad Guerrero (.319 BA, 20 HRs, 75 RBIs, leading AL vote getter for the All-Star Game) go

6) Ruben Amaro isn't exactly looking good as the Phillies GM, what with that Cliff Lee trade and the Raul Ibanez signing

5) Mariano Rivera can't possibly do this for more than another decade or two

4) Trevor Hoffman's march to 600 saves isn't exactly going well

3) Dusty Baker might be the manager of the year, which means that Mike Leake and Travis Wood are going to die

2) Even by their historical standards, man alive, did the Cubs ever suck

1) Shockingly, the team with the most money (Yankees) had the most wins
