Top 10 reasons why the NBA's taking a week-long break in the middle of the playoffs

Because readjusting things after 3 out of 4 semifinal series went 4-0 is just plain impssible, for all of the following reasons...

10) Need that long to figure out how to sell the idea of the Lakers making a deep run

9) Want to see what happens when Charles Barkley has this much free time

8) Gives Steve Nash a chance to heal up from falling down the stairs

7) Dead time during the playoff season just means more quality LeBron's Next Team Speculation

6) Audit time for David Stern with the referees to see what happened with three teams getting swept

5) All part of a long-standing secret plan to bring back the NHL

4) Creates more time for the country to denigrate the Magic

3) Gives people a head start on ignoring the Finals, before they are forced to root on Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett

2) Proof that God is merciful, in that it means that we can see less of those heavy rotation TBS ads

1) Have to make sure that all momentum, fun, and interest outside of the home markets is drained away
