Brief and Obvious Points About ESPN and Caitlyn Jenner

Regardless of what one thinks about this event, and what it means to a marginalized group, and the larger number of people that now seems to be thinking about them for the very first time, this point:

It has been nearly 40 years since Jenner was an athlete.

ESPN is, supposedly, an organization that is devoted to the coverage of sports.

Jenner's transformation has nothing to do with, well, a comeback to the decathlon, right?

So if and when you see this event getting coverage on this channel, please realize that the network is choosing to compromise its brand in the pursuit of ratings, and is prepared to show Not Sports to get them.

Kind of like how you can't see music on the Music Television channel anymore. (I'm not saying that ESPN will stop broadcasting games any time soon. Just that they would if they could find something else, with better ratings and/or profitability.)

Which leads me to one overarching point, and one that I find myself asking every time the channel is on and there is Not Game on it...

Why on earth would I want to watch this network, when there are so many others that cover Not Sports better, and they seem so put out by, well, covering sports?
